Psycho shankara  movie review:
Set against the backdrop of a series of true incidents involving the escape and capture of notorious rapist and killer M Jaishankar, a.k.a. Psycho Shankara, this film is not exactly a document of the same. Instead, it tells a set of stories of the close friends and family of two of the women who became his victims.
Director Punith Arya R's film has one central story  one that captures the time between Psycho Shankara's escape and capture, and some of the crimes he commits while on the run. The film has three other sub-stories that are connected to the central story. Siddu's (Yashas) love story is brought to an abrupt halt when his love Kavya, lands up in the ICU instead of the registrar office on the day of their wedding. Narasimha (Pranav) and his friends from the village are on the hunt for Psycho Shankara and they will do whatever it takes to avenge for a loss that they cannot fathom. And then there is the corrupt top-cop Ashok Kumar (Sharath Lohitashwa), who enjoys a good 'deal' over any other sort of recognition that comes with him solving a crime.
While all three sub-plots cross paths and come together, thanks to a common goal  that of finding Psycho Shankara  it is each character's performance that lures you into each of their stories as they help strengthen the central story.
However, a crisp edit on the sub-stories would have ensured the audience stays with the central theme rather than deviate from it.A special mention must go out to Pranav, who is both aggressive and endearing when required  a mass hero in the making; the cinematography  as long as you can ignore the blurred gore; the use of various dialects of Kannada  each in sync with those playing roles of people from different regions; and lastly the music  not too overpowering, not too simple.
The director takes the liberty to dramatise the story so much that it may encourage one to take justice into one's own hand. While that is a crime and, therefore, definitely not advisable, one can't help but at least imagine such an end to someone who has committed heinous crimes. That the real Psycho Shankara is still living out his life in jail after escaping from its confines and being captured three times over is a real-life story for another day. This one is worth the trip to the halls, but watch it only as entertainment, not as inspiration.
